Happy Friday!

Welcome to this installment of…

Share Your DREAM Friday!
It is with great pleasure that I bring to you today’s Special Guest Dreamer The GREAT Leslie Denning.

I had the pleasure of meeting Leslie on Facebook back in September of 2010 through the Tribe Syndication Association (TSA).

I was immediately drawn to her love for music and children, both a passion of mine, but it wasn’t until recently that we connected and found that we had even more in common.

We both had dreams of being famous musicians when we were kids and although my career as a rock star did not make it out of the garage, I still have dreams of playing on stage some day and our instrument of choice is the bass guitar. Mine is purple and hers is red.

For children, music is something that can help them so much in their early stages of development. I am blessed that we had the opportunity to find amazing people, like Leslie, when our daughter was first born with the same passion for children and their development as she has.

A born teacher and leader in all that she does. Please join me in celebrating Leslie as she shares her dreams with us today.

The GREAT Leslie Denning – Share Your DREAM Friday

Hello, everyone! I’m happy to be here and would like to thank The Great Edward for giving us dreamers the opportunities to share our dreams. I met Edward through Tribe Syndication Association and have been drawn to his optimism and his willingness to help other people.

At present, I’m married 37 years to my husband, James, and we have one daughter who is married and has four children, ages 1, 3, 6, and 13. James and I live on 6.5 acres in the Missouri Ozarks, and we enjoy the peace and quiet of the country with our five cats.

I must have been born to sing, because I started singing almost as soon as I could talk. My mother bought me a record player when I was around three, and I spent many happy hours singing along with my stack of children’s records. I started piano lessons when I was eight and loved having the ability to express myself through music.

As a teenager, even though I was terribly shy, I began to dream of having a career as a singer. However, like most young people, all I saw was the glamor and not the work involved. Although I have spent some time performing with bands and as a solo pianist, I realized that I did not have the iron will that is needed to make it in the entertainment world. And along the way, I discovered that I have the heart of a teacher.

When my little girl was in the fourth grade, I went back to school to get my degree in music education. I started teaching piano lessons to pay for my tuition and upon graduation taught music in public school. My first job was at a very small school where I had every student from kindergarten music to high school band. It was a huge learning curve, but I loved working with the kids and learned so much. However, I learned that teaching in public school was not for me. I went back to private teaching and have taught piano, voice, guitar, and violin at my studio, Second Street Music Academy, since 2001. I also spent a number of years teaching Musikgarten, a music program for children birth to six years old, and developed a passion for early childhood music education.

I became very interested in technology during the 90’s: computers, music software, and more recently social media , YouTube videos and blogging. It occurred to me that I had a head full of knowledge and experience that I could share. I could help parents develop the confidence to make music with their children. I could develop materials to help other teachers to teach.

I also have a passion for preserving our precious folk song heritage, which has kind of fallen by the wayside in the 21st century. Currently, I am combining my interests by making videos and writing publications so that parents and teachers will find it easier to teach music to the children in their lives. My first publication, How the West Was Sung: The Story of the American Cowboy and His Songs, now available on Amazon.com, was developed for elementary teachers and home school parents. My new book will be out in a few weeks. You Can Make Music at the Keyboard, Book One is a book/video/compact disk package that enables parents to teach their preschool children to play simple songs on the piano, as well as learn concepts of beat, rhythm, melody, and more.

In a nutshell, my dream is to teach the world to sing … and play … and rediscover the joy that music can bring.

Happy Friday!

Welcome to this installment of…

Share Your DREAM Friday!
It is with great pleasure that I bring to you today’s Special Guest Dreamer The GREAT Nathalie Villeneuve.

Nathalie and I first connected on Facebook through some mutual friends. Her skills for video marketing we great and her presence on camera was so authentic and enthusiastic.

Our true connection came when we met at Diane Hochman’s Instant Marketing Professional Event in March 2011 in Hartford CT. It was there that we got time to sit with each other and share our true passions and build a foundation for our friendship.

She is a wife to her wonderful husband Hugh, and has 2 amazing children. Although the path on the journey towards her dreams has taken her on a few twists and turns along the way with some distractions that interrupted things, she has always known deep down inside who she was and what she was born to do.

Please join me in celebrating Nathalie as she shares her love, passion, and dream with us today.

The GREAT Nathalie Villeneuve – Share Your DREAM Friday

You Cannot Live A Dream That Is Not YOUR Own

California Colors

The red carpet was as luscious and shinny and there were beautiful tropical plants all along the crimson red pathway leading to the entrance of what seemed to be a Palace. There were little gates surrounding the guarded red area where busy photographers held their cameras ready to capture images of the stars coming out of their fancy cars. I was thinking; “Why did I wear cowboy boots? Oh! How is my hair? What if there was lipstick on my teeth”? Then…a voice snapped me out of my silly thoughts; one of the photographers was yelling “Patrick! Patrick! Look over here! What is going to be your next movie Patrick? How is your Dad? How is Farrah, are they going to be here tonight”?

But wait! You might be saying. What were you doing on that red carpet anyway Nathalie? LOL

I lived in California and dated the son of a famous movie star. I hung out with many well-known actors, musicians and celebrities. I attended parties where I had the opportunity to chat with the people you see on the big screen, Vanity Fair and Star magazine. My red carpet moment with Patrick that night happened because Patrick’s Mom was sick and she gave us her tickets to a charity Gala in Hollywood. (Liza Minnelli was performing for the charity). When we arrived there, we saw a scene straight out of the Grammys…but really, it was never “My Red carpet moment”. I thought I was living a dream life out there in California but I was truly happy …only when I was painting…so I painted a lot!

One night, we invited Farrah and Patrick’s father, Ryan O’Neal for dinner. I made my famous salmon pie! Thankfully, it was a success. At one point during the evening, as I poured Farrah another glass of wine, I sat next to her, and we started a conversation about life and the things we love to do. I admired Farrah Fawcett very much and that night, she said something to me I will always remember. She said, “My two passions in life are cooking and painting. If I could, I would stay home all the time, burry myself in my kitchen and cook for my family all day long. She added;” I’d much rather be painting then going out all the time and my dream is to become a really great artist (painter)”. A light went on in my heart because I understood her message. It was not so much the words but the way she spoke these words to me that touched me and changed the course of my life. At first, I thought she was joking but she was not. It’s funny but after that night I remember being really proud of who I was and I started to paint even more!

A Dreamy Message

Farrah’s message was clear. She was telling me that you cannot live a dream that is not YOUR own. I found out that night that acting was not her passion and that we shared the same love for art. That message resonates with me still today.

Not too long after, I left California… I realized that I was not in an authentic relationship and that I was living a very superficial life…fun but superficial nonetheless. I left many of my paintings in California…My destiny was to meet my husband Hugh, and we now have two beautifully dreamy children.

I told you this story because it aligns with the thoughts people have about looking at successful people and say, Oh! She or He must really be living their dream! Look at the cars, the house on the beach, the glamorous clothes and the red carpet! I use to think that way…but not anymore.

The Source of My Dream

Our dreams are a state of mind! As we continuously grow and re-align ourselves, we tweak our dreams a little every day. We consciously or subconsciously work at redefining and perfecting our vision and our dreams

My dream now is to set the stage for people to share their connection stories with others and I use my blog as a medium to create a beautiful “Tree of Authentic Connections” where friendships, relationships and partnerships are born every day. These new connections ARE at the origin of new dreams being born and at the origin of a strong and empowered community.

I will continue to add color, love, belief, knowledge, happy moments and faith to my dream everyday because I trust that when I reach it…I will know… and I will sign MY name upon it.

Happy Friday!

Welcome to this installment of…

Share Your DREAM Friday!
It is with great pleasure that I bring to you today’s Special Guest Dreamer The GREAT Joyce Penner.

I recently had the great blessing to connect with Joyce on Facebook through the Tribe Syndication Association (TSA).

Joyce is a fellow Canadian from Manitoba with a great heart for young children and currently raising two of her own.

As a professional Network Marketer, she has journeyed online and offline with great success. She shares, “go through the journey until you get to the place that you are comfortable.” We could all use this advise from time to time on our journey as well.

She is an excellent writer and story teller who recently released an e-book where in her first chapter she suggests that people write and share their story.

Joyce lives by the motto “It should never hurt to be a child.”

Please join me in celebrating Joyce as she shares her dream with us today.

The GREAT Joyce Penner – Share Your DREAM Friday

The cigarette butt burns were dotted across his back, chest and thighs. They were deep, angry, raw. His shoulder was dislocated, the arm fractured. The baby’s diaper had not been changed in days, the skin the colour and texture of a crust of bread. Convulsing for hours, death appeared imminent. He was 8 months old.

Years later a can was sitting on a counter in a local gas station. Above the photo of a child’s picture the words “It should never hurt to be a child” were imprinted in big, bold, black letters. I can’t remember the name of the organization that was fundraising but the words seared deep into my heart. “It should never hurt to be a child.” Innocent victims of abusive parents, ignorant child care providers or uncaring family members.

Babies forgotten, alone, living in a world we, as adults, close our eyes to because it’s too horrible to comprehend.

Many more years pass. My own babies grown and gone. The anger, pain and tears still came quickly if I heard a story of another abused child but I was still totally unaware that I could make a difference in these kid’s lives.

Then it happened. My pastor dropped a casual invitation to accompany him to an annual event hosted by Bill Hybels, the pastor of Willow Creek Community Church, called “The Global Leadership Summit”. I just as casually accepted. I was always interested in leadership training and this sounded like it could be a good one.

Back tracking a couple of years, an unexpected blessing had fallen into my lap in the form of a child, born addicted to drugs and alcohol and one who desperately needed a good home. I agonized over her withdrawals as she lay in Intensive Care, ready to take her home, armed with the specialized training I needed to handle her required feeding techniques. We celebrated her strengths and worked on her weaknesses and she was growing into a beautiful little toddler.

Each speaker at the seminar built on the previous one and the theme, the message that was coming through loud and clear was what hurts your heart hurts God’s heart and He gave us the tools, the desire and yes, even the pain to fix what hurts.

Lunch, Day 2 of the Seminar, 8 strangers, meeting for the first time, shared a little about ourselves. Naturally, I spoke of my little girl, now adopted, who was making tremendous strides in overcoming some pretty horrific challenges. The next round of information was to expose what was hurting our hearts. Each one of the 8 had different passions. The lady to my right grew angry over senior neglect and abuse. The gentleman beside her shared his passion for education in 3rd world countries. My turn. I knew what hurt my heart. Kids. And I spoke of creating a safe place for babies and children but I had no idea how to do that. No clue how to quench this fire in my heart to protect, nourish, cherish, and love these innocent angels.

I will admit I allowed my inner turmoil to show as I struggled with what was in my heart and how to fix it. The table went dead quiet when a minister across the table from me leaned over and quietly said “Joyce, don’t you think you are doing that now with your little girl?” I was shocked, in fact stunned. I had never realized I had already rescued one little tiny life from years of crippling abuse and neglect.

Within months of that event, baby number two joined my family. A boy. Not as severely affected but still suffering from the effects of a biological mom, drinking and on drugs.

I was content, I thought. I’m doing my part, I thought.

I thought wrong.

The fire, banked for a few years, started burning hot and fierce again. It wasn’t enough for me to help two kids. There were too many children who needed help. Too many children falling through the cracks. Too many for me alone. I needed staff, a building, scratch that – lots of buildings
And the dream was born. With it my network marketing business. The vehicle to earn the funds to finance this goal.
