The GREAT Dr. Erica Goodstone – Share Your DREAM Friday

I first met Edward Elliott in TSA, Tribe Syndication Association, about one year ago, reading and exchanging personal comments on each other’s blogs. He quickly became one of the leading syndicators and shared how he did it in a video. Then I watched a series of videos he and his lovely wife, Julie, created about their own dream processes. I was touched by how authentic and open they were. When Edward invited me to share my own dream, I was excited and it took me a few weeks to begin to crystalize how I might share my dream. Before actually speaking on the phone to Edward, I had a picture of him as a struggling entrepreneur, putting himself out there in order to create a business. But when we actually spoke, I discovered that he was well educated, an engineer, and had already created and sold a million dollar business. Edward has created Dream Friday out of his own dream to make a difference in so many people’s lives. And I am delighted to participate in Edward’s dream by sharing my own dream.

What is My Dream?

I am Dr. Erica Goodstone, a Spiritual Relationship Expert Helping Men and Women Heal Through Love.

My dream is to create a Global Spiritual Relationship Coaching program to help men and women heal their bodies, their relationships and their lives.

Who has inspired me? I have been most inspired by powerful women.

As a child, adventurous, athletic and daring, I loved reading my favorite Kay Tracey detective stories. As I grew older, I was really influenced by 3 books. When I read The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan, I could not grasp why women were so unsatisfied. To me it was natural for women to seek their own self-actualization. That’s why I resonated with The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand, in which she portrayed strong and independent women. My dream was to marry a powerful man like the main character in her book, Hoard Roark. And when I read The Women’s Room, by Marilyn French, I was deeply disturbed by her belief that men had all the power and women were just victims.

When I met and shook hands with First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, I was deeply honored. When I got a glimpse of the beautiful, renowned actress, Elizabeth Taylor outside the theatre on Broadway, I was so excited. And when I watched the Miss America pageants, I dreamed of one day being so beautiful and famous.

Inspirational women and stories about them, set the groundwork for my life’s work, but my favorite movies were NOT about powerful women. Two movies that touched my soul, and made me cry for hours, even days afterwards, were Wuthering Heights and Splendor in the Grass. Both were stories of intense passion, undying love, and the anguish of not being able to satisfy the desire for intimacy. In my favorite movies, love always prevails.

But it was a professor in my doctoral program, Dr. Mary Calderone, who set the tone for the focus of my life’s work. I once heard her say “Love and Sex go together.” That hit me like a lightning bolt. You have to realize, this was during my experimental years, the time of the sexual revolution, when spontaneous sexual encounters, even with strangers, became the norm. But rarely were we learning how to love.

My Ph.D. dissertation was about Margaret Mahler’s theory of mother-infant bonding and how adequate or inadequate bonding, in the first 3 years of life, might affect our ability to create intimate adult love relationships.

The other great influence that shaped my life’s work happened one week before my dissertation orals. I attended an Association for Humanistic Psychology conference where I observed my future teacher and mentor, Ilana Rubenfeld, performing her “magic.” A lady was lying on a massage table coughing from pneumonia and she was prompted to say to those who were upsetting her, “Get off my chest.” At that point she coughed strongly and it became apparent that her illness was connected to her suppressed anger at her mother and her husband. The Rubenfeld Synergy Method of talk and touch became the framework for my counseling style because it connected Margaret Mahler’s research on mother-infant bonding with the life-long resulting body-mind-spirit suffering I viewed in that workshop, that weekend.

My dream is to help men and women create healing and love in their bodies, their relationships and their lives. I love inspiring others to develop a broader, more inclusive, higher and even spiritual perspective. I love helping single men and women to finally develop loving and satisfying relationships. I love watching couples shift from anger, rage, frustration and discontent to tears of joy and affectionate touching. And, as they say, when you give you can’t help giving to yourself. As I do this profound and intimate work with individuals and couples, I find myself continually healing.

My dream is to bring my work into the virtual world. I want to live my life in simplicity, abundance and joy as I guide others to become leaders, influencers, and become the love they are seeking from others.

In order to live my dream, I have been continually studying about relationships, love and healing. My first goal has been to heal myself. I have healed my attitude toward relationships by shifting from being a victim to a powerful collaborator and influencer.

But recently, my body has been calling out for greater attention. Aches and pains, stiffness and an excess 20 pounds has finally led me to make a definite decision. I made a decision, two weeks ago, to get my beautiful sensual body back in shape, and release all the current stiffness and pain. In that short period of time, I have already lost over 10 pounds and my flexibility is returning.

My dream is to create a global spiritual relationship coaching program to help men and women heal their bodies, their relationships and their lives. And … I realize I can no longer do it all by myself. My dream is to create my technical team, including my virtual assistants, marketing professionals, technical assistants and my tribe of supportive colleagues and joint venture partners. My dream is to have abundant money pouring in from multiple sources so that I can freely give my time and energy to my passion, writing, speaking and coaching as I guide men and women to heal through love.

If any part of what I am saying speaks to you, please schedule a free personal consultation with me at DrEricaWellness.com and put the words “Dream Friday” in your note.

Thanks to all of you for listening to my dream and most of all, thanks to The Great Edward Elliott for giving me the opportunity to both clarify and share my dream on this Dream Friday adventure.
